What I want most is Magic The Gathering 2012 including DLC Deck Pack 1,2 and the Expansion($10 total) but having the base game is good too. Also be okay with Terraria or some other games.
Edit: traded away Shogun 2 and CSS, only have the orange box left Edit2: all gone folks, thanks for the people who traded with me
THIS WAY REQUIRES SOME FORM OF SACRIFICING ADDONS. IF YOU WISH NOT TO LOOSE SOME ADDONS AT ALL, DON'T FOLLOW THIS TECHNIQUE.
YOU WILL ALSO NEED TO BUY SOME GAMES TO GET THIS TO WORK!! (CS:S, L4D2 AND ORANGE BOX)
Alright. Fps is a key important feature in gaming and of course, we all would love a massive fps boost. I am here to show the best and easy way.
- Delete the larged-sized add-ons.
Large sized addons usually kill fps. It requires a lot of processing power and ram to run larger sized addons. Since gmod is using Source 1, heavy addons will usually slow down the pending processes that the engine is using. Source engine is known to be incredibly unoptimized when using games like gmod (Because Gmod uses third party content, unlike other source games that can only use it's vanilla content)
Now that gmod has a newer version where you can sort out addons. It's better to delete addons that are more than 70-100mb. If you wish to keep some heavy addons. Try removing smaller ones that you won't use often.
- Use the original and legitimate texture resources from games.
I get that getting texture resources are kinda expensive to get. Majority people usually use the texture files from the internet. I also did that for about a year until I started to actually get the content from it's original games.
Since the texture packs that are downloaded for free and added to the gmod's addon directory. It's better to download the original games. Here's why:
Texture packs that are downloaded from the internet are put to the same directory where other items will be (Addons and Scripts)In the same directory, gmod will read all the scripts but also the texture resources. This will kinda give Gmod more slower thinking time because it needs to read all the textures (Which is about 71k files) So basically to make it easier to say, textures that are downloaded online will disturb gmod's reading time and give more things to process!!
Best way to fix this problem is to just buy the games. Mount it and you get all the textures, everything will be the same and you'll get higher fps now that gmod doesn't need to read the files in one directory (Since it's mounted to the necessary games, gmod will just borrow the files instead of owning the files) and it won't burden gmod to read everything at once.
List of games you need to buy -
Team Fortress 2, Counter Strike Source (Most Important) Left 4 Dead 2, Orange box (Hl2,hl2ep1,hl2ep2,portal)
Just download all of them and just mount them. Doing this will also make maps easier to load because gmod will only read the needed files. It can also be safer because it's genuine and straight from the actual games.
- Disable Windows aero extension.
Many source players won't even realize that aero extensions are enabled. Aero extensions only happen when you are using windowed mode. Since everyone is usually using normal fullscreen. Aero extensions will basically do what it needs to do at the background but it's unable to do what it needs because of fullscreen.
I won't need to tell the full reason. If you are using fullscreen, just disable it and it will do all the work and give you more fps. It makes it more easier for gmod to run. It requires you to restart gmod though, so keep that in mind.
These are the best and alternative ways to make gmod run on better fps. If you want to, you can try it. I have just gained to an average 80-130fps. Before, it used to only be 30-50fps. Big areas won't be a problem anymore.
I hope this tricked helped. It certainly helped me in every way. I hope it works for you!
Best of luck.
