[For Hire] Graphic Designer and Writer Looking to Gain Experience.
My name is Nicky James, and I’m a 20 year old part-time sales clerk located in Ontario, Canada. Through the past few years I’ve discovered my passion for graphic design, especially in design targeted more towards children. With children’s design, I find, there’s more room for creativity and flexibility in design and colour. Even the usage of colour in design is an interest of mine, the meanings behind certain colours and which ones go best together, and trending colours throughout history. Next year I’ll be heading to college to study graphic design and visual communication, though I need financial help, the reason I’m posting here.
Mainly my design has focused on still images, such as advertisements for Tumblr blogs, my own and other people’s. The kinds of blogs I designed for all had a similar style to their appearance, though versatile in content, allowing me for a moment to exercise my creativity. You can find a few of the backgrounds and promotions I did for these blogs here: https://elexicon.tumblr.com/
I’m also a writer, only for fun at the moment. I’m only fluent in English but I’m slowly working on French. When it comes to my writing, my grammar is very accurate and I’m great at proofreading and fixing spelling errors. This could come in handy for those working on websites or blogs and need an editor or someone else to write for them. If we have interests in common, we could collaborate to create a page!
I’m very proficient in all types of social media websites. I’ve used Facebook, Twitter and Tumblr for years, I have profiles on Snapchat and Instagram, and I know the ins and outs of creating pages on these sites, which I would be able to maintain for anyone who needs a page run for their business. I’m also highly skilled in Microsoft Word and Photoshop CS5.
My main interests are design and graphics, the history of mass media and the rise of radio and the introduction of the television, and 80s music (mostly new wave, new romantic and post-punk, and genres associated with these). I run a personal blog on Tumblr and have had many blogs solely for writing and portraying characters of my own design. I’ve been told I possess a high level of creativity and when I have an interest in something, I can learn most anything about it, therefore I’m knowledgeable when it comes to my main interests.
Thank you for taking the time to read this! I’d appreciate if anyone interested in hiring me for my skills could come and chat with me in my inbox! I’m very excited for new opportunities and to gain experience in a field that I truly love, and to further save for my education.

Budget build request for beginner
What will you be doing with this PC? Be as specific as possible, and include specific games or programs you will be using.
Some Photoshop, some video editing, maybe some music production. Uploading to YouTube. I'm not sure about exact software; it's been too many years since I had a real computer. I used to use Photoshop CS5.
I'll also be using the computer for some basics like MS Office, iTunes, Netflix, etc.
I have a dream of upgrading a little at a time, with the goal of eventually being able to play Dragon Age 4 when it comes out, whenever that will be.
What is your maximum budget before rebates/shipping/taxes?
As low as possible. Hopefully no more than $600? I could flex a little on this, it would just mean another month before I can buy.
When do you plan on building/buying the PC?.
I'm probably a couple months out, to be honest. Maybe early April? I know things will change between now and then--I'm just hoping to get an idea of what's realistic.
What, exactly, do you need included in the budget? (ToweOS/monitokeyboard/mouse/etc)
Just the tower and OS for now. I have basic peripherals covered, and can upgrade after I have the computer done.
Which country (and state/province) will you be purchasing the parts in? If you're in US, do you have access to a Microcenter location?
Arkansas, USA. No Microcenter around.
If reusing any parts (including monitor(s)/keyboard/mouse/etc), what parts will you be reusing? Brands and models are appreciated.
Not reusing anything internal. Using a monitor, mouse, and keyboard my previous employer gave me. Not sure about models, but nothing fancy. Will also be using a Wacom Bamboo tablet from a few years ago. I'm sorry I don't have more info at the moment. I can provide more details later on if anyone needs specifics.
Will you be overclocking? If yes, are you interested in overclocking right away, or down the line? CPU and/or GPU?
I'm gonna go with no.
Are there any specific features or items you want/need in the build? (ex: SSD, large amount of storage or a RAID setup, CUDA or OpenCL support, etc)
I need an SD card reader. I'd prefer built-in, but could get an external one if needed.
Do you have any specific case preferences (Size like ITX/microATX/mid-towefull-tower, styles, colors, window or not, LED lighting, etc), or a particular color theme preference for the components?
Small and unobtrusive would be good. Don't care how it looks.
Do you need a copy of Windows included in the budget? If you do need one included, do you have a preference?
I definitely need an OS. I use Windows 7 at work but I don't have a strong preference.
Extra info or particulars:
I have never built a computer, but have watched it done by other folks many times, and read a lot about the process. I'm confident I can do it, but I would appreciate guidance on what to get.
Also, to be honest, I'm not even sure building a pc is the best option for me. I have heard for a long time that building is cheaper and better in general, but if you think that, based on my needs, I could buy an assembled unit cheaper or better than I could build something, I would gratefully accept recommendations on that front, as well.
